Celebration (double CD)
After ten years of existence, it was time for an anniversary celebration, and so the LJJO threw a splendid party in elegant surroundings, namely at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, as part of the Rheingau Music Festival.
And this event really lived up to its label, especially because numerous prominent jazz musicians came to Wiesbaden as well-wishers: Albert Mangelsdorff, the world-famous trombonist from Frankfurt, star trombonist Jiggs Whigham, Dutch flugelhorn virtuoso Ack van Rooyen, Thomas Heberer, a young and exceptional trumpeter as well as the top vocalists Silva Droste, Sylvia Vrethammar and Bill Ramsey.
The legendary trombone player Albert Mangelsdorff had a very special birthday present: he wrote, arranged und played the title part V
for and together with the LJJO.
The double CD is not only presenting live-recordings of the concert at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden but also titles of the Hungary-Tour in 1995. Two titles of the outstanding concert at the hall of the Liszt Academy Budapest, where the LJJO played together with the Dohnányi Sinfony Orchestra Budapest and guest vocalist Sylvia Vrethammar, can be listened to on the CD Celebration
as well.
